This is is a GREAT deal; exactly what any casual traveler would need/want for a real NYC experience! Positive: This is a FANTASTIC DEAL! Prime location in the middle of Manhattan, near lots of really cool neighborhoods! Felt safe and very 'New York'! The gritty walk-up only adds to the NYC vibes. The apartment itself was clean, cozy, and comfortable. It had everything we needed (towels, linens etc). It's private and safe. Makes you feel like you're a real NYC local! Any questions we had were easily resolved over text. The host was friendly but unobtrusive. They answered our messages/questions/concerns quickly and were incredibly kind and accommodating. Overall we were SUPER happy with this apartment. For the price, it was exactly what we were looking for! Negative: Our only complaint was that the couch-bed didn't go all the way flat; the host says she plans to fix/replace this asap! Also, just note that the AC unit is in the bedroom, and the fan in the living room is stuck on the 'rotation' setting. But the AC still did wonders to cool down the apartment during those hot, muggy summer days; we were never too hot. Note too that the bedroom door doesn't close all the way due to the size of the bed, so complete privacy between the living room and the bedroom isn't entirely possible. But as two friends traveling together, this was not a problem for us.

The accommodation is decent and offers what you can reasonably expect from it. Positive: The accommodation was exactly as described. It was clean and comfortable, and there were many thoughtful little touches, such as coffee and snacks. Negative: The stairwell is indeed quite unpleasant, but that is not really their fault, and after a while you get used to it. Guests arriving from Europe should be aware that there is no electrical plug adapter in the apartment, so we had to buy one ourselves.

Good for Solo Travel, But a Few Let DownsEasy subway access and tons of food options right outside the door. The apartment was clean and the main bed was really comfortable. A couple things bugged me though. The kitchen is a big selling point in the listing and honestly the whole reason I picked this over a hotel, but there were no pots or pans. Kind of defeats the purpose.Had a friend stay for a few nights on the pull out couch and she said it was really uncomfortable. So I'd say this place is best suited for one person.The building is pretty rough. There's trash in the entryway and the hallways get hotter and stuffier the higher up you go. The host does mention in the listing that the building is older and worn down, so it's not like it's hidden, but it's still a bit of a shock walking in for the first time.Bottom line, if you're traveling solo and not planning to cook, it's a decent spot in a good location. Just know what you're walking into with the building.

Good value but with issues Positive: Good location in terms of transport links, near canal street subway station. The apartment itself is nice and clean, comfortable bed. Overall, it’s good value. Negative: You pick the key up a 10 min walk away from the location, I was given the wrong key and then had to make the trip again. Had to plunge the toilet multiple times, I’m not that fussy but it was an annoyance. Shower is fine, but not the best pressure. The staircase up to the apartment is very dirty, but the apartment itself is clean.

Wonderful stay Positive: Everything was perfect. The apartment was very well located and had everything we needed in it. It was very comfortable and it smelled very good on the inside. Negative: Sadly, the only thing we didn’t like about the apartment didn’t depend on the apartment itself. It was the smell that the building had on the community stairs when you entered the building because of the two restaurants that it had next to it, the smell was very bad, which was of course not a fault of the apartment.
